There will be a short period of downtime (up to 2 hours) whilst we carry out this essential upgrade work to our mail platform.
With the demands of Google and GDPR placing more and more emphasis on using Secure Platforms we are upgrading our entire Truska Mail Platform to be full complainant and secure using the latest technologies.
We have been planning and preparing for this for several month to ensure that those clients using our mail systems who want full SSL security can have it in time for the introduction of GDPR on 25th May.
A couple of questions you may want to ask:
Do I need to do anything relating to this?
No - your mail system will continue to work as is - you do not need to make any changes.
Will my mail be down or delayed?
Yes - our servers will be down from 10:00pm on 4th May for approx 2 hours, hopefully less. During this time you will not be able to send or receive mail using the Truska Mail Platform. Any incoming mail will be queued and then, when the system is up again, filtered through to your inbox in the normal way.
What do I need to do to avail of the new security?
When all is up and running you will be able to set your mail system up to use SSL. If setting new mail accounts up you need to select SSL, for existing account you will need to amend your current mail account setting on your phone, tablet or computer email account settings. We will make more information available on this within our support portal nearer the time.
Will all my emails now be fully secure?
No - A majority of email passes through the internet at some stage unsecured. Having an SSL connection simple secures up the section to and from our servers and your computers and other devices. This does not mean your emails will be protected by secure servers for the duration of their journey. That depends on the status of the sender/recipients mail platform and how the various system communicate with each other. This is out of our and your control. We can only do the best we can with the sections of the journey we control.
Will this cost more?
N - our pricing will not change. The cost of Truska email services will remain the same whether you are using SSL or not.
If you have any questions elating top your invoice please do not hesitate to contact us.
